The New Jersey Higher Education Task Force, established by Governor Chris Christie to examine ways to strengthen the state’s colleges and universities, released its bold and comprehensive report on January 4, 2011.

With more than 70 wide-ranging recommendations, the report covers such crucial issues as adequate and predictable funding, independent governance, and higher education’s vital role in the state’s economic growth and workforce development. It strongly endorses reuniting Rutgers and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School to enhance the state’s competitiveness for distinguished faculty, top students, and increased federal research funding.
